A bit of history about the show is that the first Riversdal show was held almost 150 years ago on 29 February 1868 in the town square which was in the centre of town. In 1905 an additional 3 morgen and later 8 morgen of land was bought (a morgen is an old measurement of land which is approximately 0.8 hectares).
The show continued to grow exponentially and later become the official annual Riversdal Agriculture Show. This growth also had the result the show had to be held over four days.
