Guest speakers for the evening were: Weeber Truter, former chairman of the Harold Farmers Association and mohair producer; CJ Stander (Rugby player – previously for the Lions and the British Lions who is currently playing in Ireland; CJ was born in George and is a JDI Client); Omri van Zyl, CEO of Agri SA; as well as former Springbok and current JDI client Ollie le Roux.

CJ Stander delivered an encouraging message: “When you’re at your lowest point, there is help, and the community must join hands and reach out to help each other during the bad times.”

Omri van Zyl gave more information about Agri statistics and the future. While Ollie le Roux touched many hearts with his message: “When you’re going through tough times, know that God is there, you only have to ask”.

His message to producers was that they enjoyed a special place in the hearts of the community and that they are an integral part of the country. He said they should reach out to each other and not lose hope. He assured producers that they will survive the drought and that in-turn they would be assisting other producers in future tough times.

During an auction conducted by Renier Zietsman; witblits, wine, ostrich leather shoes, crocodile leather shoes and rugby memorabilia, came under the hammer. CJ Stander donated a rugby jersey which fetched R11 000 while a John Deere toy tractor with baler went for R3 200.

The evening was a huge success. A big thankyou to all the JDI supporters who helped to make the night unforgettable.
