JDI News - Name three important aspects in respect of which JDI has changed or developed from the time when you started to work.
ET:
  • The successful merger with Senwes.
  • Expansion since 1960 from one branch to six full-fledged John Deere branches.
  • The available stock levels due to the merger with Senwes.
 
JDI News - How old were you when you became actively involved with JDI and what has been your biggest achievement thus far?
ET:  I was 24 years old. The biggest achievement is still to be one of South Africa's John Deere agents!
 
JDI News:  JDI is a family business - what is the secret of a successful family business?
ET: Interest in the business was developed from an early age. The family gave their full support to the business, its personnel and customers.
 
JDI News: With the exception of the JDI trademark and new branches, what are the biggest challenges of the company for the future and are you geared for them?
ET: It remains a challenge for JDI to retain its intimate, rural character, which is unique to the business. The key to JDI's success remains the quality of the personnel employed.
 
JDI News: What can customers look forward to in the future?
ET: The objective of JDI is to be a sound John Deere agent, which renders quality service, as expected by customers, and which gives farmers the opportunity to use the latest technology in the industry in their farming operations. Due to the merger with Senwes, the availability of stock is also far better for the customer.
 
JDI News: How long do you think you will still be actively involved with JDI?
ET: My life is John Deere and as long as I can still make a positive contribution to the success of JDI, I will give my best.
 
JDI News: How important is the support of the family?
ET: Family support is very important, not only for the business, but also for customers and personnel. Family support is what makes a family business thrive.
