The school describes the learners as having a “slight disadvantage cognitively” to other learners. “As a result they are not able to adapt to the mainstream curriculum and follow a programme more suited to enhancing practical skills.” Children at the school, which is situated Pacaltsdorp, come from as far as Riversdal and Plettenberg Bay.
During their visit to the branch they were exposed to John Deere tractors, gators and lawnmowers. The kids, seen in the photographs, plant their own vegetables and work with cattle on the bit of land owned by the school. The Agriculture teacher at the school wanted to give them an insight into how an organisation like JDI operates.
They were shown videos of John Deere machines in action and were treated to some tasty treats as well as a goody bag.
